What was the relationship between David and Solomon?
Solomon was the son of David and Bathsheba. David chose him to reign after him. 2 Samuel 12:24; 1 Kings 1:30

And David comforted Bethsabee his wife, and went in unto her, and slept with her: I and she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon, and the Lord loved him.
1 Kings 2:12
And Solomon sat upon the throne of his father David, and his kingdom was strengthened exceedingly.
