La Verna
A place in the history of the Church
A lonely mountain in Tuscany, in Italy, that was given to St. Francis as a place to pray.
What happened here
- The stigmata: in 1224, while he was praying on La Verna, St. Francis received in his body the wounds of Christ crucified.
Today
It is still a Franciscan shrine.
