Greccio
A place in the history of the Church
A village in the mountains of central Italy.
What happened here
- The first Nativity scene: at Christmas in 1223, St. Francis asked for a manger with hay, an ox, and a donkey to be prepared in Greccio.
- The Nativity scene at home: Pope Francis says that the Nativity scene we set up at home comes from there.
