Carthage
A place in the history of the Church
A great city of North Africa in the time of the Roman Empire. It had a very ancient Church and many martyrs.
What happened here
- St. Perpetua: she was a young mother of Carthage. In the year 203 she was arrested with others who were preparing for baptism, and she died a martyr.
- St. Augustine: as a young man he went to study in Carthage.
Today
Its ruins remain next to the city of Tunis.
